The Glorious Draconid Empire
Not much is know about the early times of Draconia, but similar to earth, reptiles had become the dominant species early in its history. Unlike earth, there was never an ice age so the predominant life remained the reptile and over millennia the Draconid evolved into the dominant species. Cold Blooded and methodical, the Draconid race is one that above all encourages survival of the fittest. The strongest survive and advance through their military caste system. All Draconids serve in the military as there is no other way of life. All arts, commerce, and recreation are branches of the military. A Draconid is a Warrior and soldier above all else. Lesser life forms serve as their menial labor. A much less evolved Mammalian species, similar to a bipedal guineapig form their labor caste and performs many tasks deemed too low for a Warrior.
As they reached for the stars, one of their goals was to find more species with which to crush under the yoke of the Glorious Draconid Empire, exploiting their technology and population as servants. One such species that was encountered was the Barad. Initially the Barad but up a good fight and held their own against the Draconids. Eventually though, as the Draconids began to target cultural sites as well as the civilian populations, the Barad conceded to the Draconid Empire and became another of their oppressed minions.
The Draconids were pleased with the acquisition of the technology the Barad had to offer, most importantly was mag-lev technology allowing them to start to develop grav vehicles. This pleased the Empire as they continued expansion across the universe, pressing any and all species they encountered into service or destruction.
Eventually, the reputation of the Draconids was so well known, lesser species started to band together and the Parisi was born. Only combined might stopped their advance across the galaxy. Content with Holding them in check, the Parisi maintained balance for many years. It was not until the UEL started to encounter the Draconinds and Barad that the PEL saw a chance to push back the Empire and start to take back some control of the universe.
All was not good within the empire though, as increasingly the Barad were less and less content to be the footstool of the Empire. In an act of compassion and self-serving calculation, the UEL decided to help the Barad to break from the Draconids and once again become an independent culture answering to no one. Seeing this as an opportunity to not only help the Barad but weaken the Draconid’s military might the UEL is seizin on this opportunity, even at the cost of creating a splinter group called the Dominion that is a very Human first centric movement growing within the UEL. The Dominion has already started to make plans to break away, hoarding older tech and designs so they can strike out to a remote system, free of alien interference.
Inside the UEL on the other hand, much talk about bringing more and more races into the fold has gained traction in Council meetings and emissaries are being sent out to the Parisi as well as to the Kaevur. To bring the industrial might of the Kaevur or the sheer numbers of the Parisi under a single banner, the Draconids, as well as the next threats to come, can be met.
Now with the defection of the Barad, the Draconids have redoubled their efforts of conquest. The “Omega” brood, the next generation of Draconids have now matured and is leading the fight against the Parisi and the UEL. The mysterious Gekta have also joined the fight under the banner of the Draconids. Cousins to the Draconids hailing from the third moon of Draconia, the Gekta are cunning warriors and excellent scouts on the battlefield. With renewed vigor they have pressed forth and have their sights on Sarin’s rim.
