The Brood

An Ancient conglomeration of insectoid species, The Brood consist of an ever-expanding hive mind of various large and small insects.  Originally consisting of the Gyant 

and larger Gyant Warriors.  Over the millennia new forms have been adapted, assimilated, and evolved.  From the smallest Gyant to the Hulking, Towering Behemoth every form has its place in the Hierarchy.  The giant Overlords and their psychic links to the Brood allow them to not only control the various aspects of the hive in peace but also when they march to war.  

One of the newer adaptations is the Parasite Brood.  These strange Gyant variants evolved from an unlikely genetic crossing of genetic material in one of the birthing chambers. Able to inject a specialized poison with their ovipositor, they can cause system changes within other file forms so that they will eventually mutate into another of the Parasite Brood.  Some life forms see this as a blessing that should be nurtured, allowing various religions and secret pacts where people knowingly infect themselves and others to become part of the Brood. This can be seen on the battlefield as a combination of Brood and others fighting side by side, sometimes with the tanks and other machinery of war that is available to those that have not fully mutated.  

The largest of the forms encountered to date is the Behemoth.  Its towering form rampages across the battlefield spewing acid and trampling anything it can under its huge feet.
